The Volvo C30 Electric is starting production of the all electric version of its compact-size hatchback which, unsurprisingly. After testing about 50 cars since autumn 2010, mainly internally, the Swedish automaker plans to build about 250 cars by the end of 2012 (or more if there is enough interest), which will be leased in a number of European countries, including Sweden, Norway, Belgium and the Netherlands.

Volvo President and CEO Stefan Jacoby today confirmed that the V60 PHEV will be coming to America. Speaking at a seminar in Washington, D.C., Jacoby said that, while the V60 plug-in hybrid is first being prepared for the European market – Jacoby called the 50-kilometer (32-mile) all-electric range and diesel range extender "tailor made" for Europeans – and will then be adapted for American tastes.
